This was posted on the national faerie yahoo group. I thought I would pass it along here as a reminder that sometimes what we perceive to be an innocent act can be quite contrary to others.

As magical and wondrous as this past Beltane was at SMS, something happened that I must bring to attention.

I'll start by saying that, as we all know, there are many who attend who have various auto immune conditions and levels of sensitivities to things around them. I tend to think that most of us are aware of this and are considerate as well as educated on these things. A friend of mine in particular is quite sensitive - his T cells are bottoming out, he has many allergies and to boot he has heavy social anxieties. Him being surrounded by a few hundred people is not only a serious challenge but a risk.

The above friend was walking up towards the knoll when someone approached him, slapped him with some stinging nettles on the wrist, and said "you wont forget my name". Then upon walking off told him what he was just struck with. My friend found me, highly agitated - fighting back his anxieties, and presented his very swollen, red and blistered wrist. He had no idea what stinging nettles were and was in a panic. Mind you, he has been sent to the ER over things that most of our bodies can just shrug off. We got him taken care of and thankfully it cleared up. Although "you wont forget my name" was said this person never actually said his name. My friend was unable to spot this faerie again. It took him some time to calm himself and stabilize his mood.

Sitting in the smoking tent, some one mentioned that they had seen someone walking around with the nettles, smacking people with them as he did my friend. He didn't know this person and could not effectively describe them.

So, I am putting out this message to anyone who might know who this person is. Their actions were not only mean spirited, but possibly life threatening. In a land of love, caring and warmth, they were spreading malice and ill intent - carelessly at that.
